you just stated in your post why it is smart for him to do this business-wise

all those people who have his #8 jersey will now have to buy his #24 jersey if they wanna show they like Kobe...so he still gets the money from the vintage #8 jerseys and now the new 24 jerseys in white, purple and yellow for both...makes very good sense money-wise
